WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A new state report shows South Florida and the Treasure Coast were among the areas most affected by Florida’s condominium safety inspection requirements, with Palm Beach County reporting a high number of buildings requiring deeper structural reviews and St. Lucie County reporting three buildings deemed unsafe or uninhabitable.
The July report from the Legislature’s Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability, or OPPAGA, analyzed milestone inspection data submitted for 2024 and 2025.
Milestone inspections are required for certain condominium and cooperative buildings that are at least three stories tall. Buildings generally must be inspected when they reach 30 years old, although local officials may require inspections at 25 years based on factors such as proximity to salt water.
