Martin County, FL – In what might sound like a plot from a quirky heist movie, the Martin County Sheriff’s Department has cracked down on a not-so-common but increasingly lucrative form of theft – pilfering used cooking oil. The suspect in question, 24-year-old Yadriel Luis Zaragoza from Miami, found himself in hot water after local deputies caught him red-handed.
Zaragoza, already on the radar in another Florida county for similar heists, wandered into Martin County, likely eyeing his next big score. But little did he know, the CID surveillance teams were already onto him. It must have been quite a sight – Zaragoza, stopping at over 20 local restaurants, not to grab a bite, but to size up their cooking oil containers. A strange reconnaissance mission, indeed!
The plot took a turn when detectives, curious about this odd tourist, decided to pull him over. Imagine their surprise when they discovered a collection of crowbars and burglary tools in his vehicle. Zaragoza’s story? He was just passing through on his way to Orlando, and it was all a big mistake thanks to his GPS. Talk about taking the wrong exit!
