Vero Beach Army soldier dies while stationed in Germany; to receive hero’s welcome

Private First Class Christopher Leone Belcher, a Vero Beach man serving in the U.S. Army, died May 3 while stationed in Germany, according to family and funeral home officials. He was 34.

Jeff Gibbs of Lowther Funeral Home said the family was informed Belcher’s death was considered honorable, though a cause of death was not provided.

Belcher’s body is scheduled to return home Friday afternoon, when military personnel, law enforcement officers and other agencies are expected to gather at the Vero Beach Regional Airport to honor his service. Gibbs said the procession will escort Belcher from the airport to Lowther Funeral Home…
