Woman found dead in Canada bay may have spent final days in Portland, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — New evidence suggests a woman whose body was found floating in Canada’s English Bay in 2022 may have spent her final days in Portland or Seattle.

Police in Vancouver, British Columbia are asking for the public’s help identifying the woman, after recent forensic testing of pollen grains and fern spores found on her sweater suggested she was likely in Portland or Seattle in the days leading to her disappearance.

A tugboat crew discovered the woman’s body floating off the Spanish Banks around 9 p.m. on Sept. 29, 2022 near an inflatable kayak and backpack. The backpack contained insulin and candy, but no identification.

Police conducted an extensive search effort across North America, including through Interpol, but no missing persons report matched the woman’s description…
