6 people face charges for drug trafficking operation in Oregon and California

PORTLAND, Ore. – Six people face federal charges for their roles in a drug trafficking operation that moved methamphetamine and cocaine between California, Portland and Central Oregon.

Rafael Mora Contreras, 45, of Forest Grove; Cristina Echeverria, 42, of Forest Grove; Nathalie Claire Buchanan, 28, of Bend; Charles Ottis Johnson, 37, of Bend; Mariano Perez-Sanchez, 42, of Forest Grove; and Dagoberto Ayala-Lopez, 38, of Hillsboro were charged on April 29, 2026. The charges include conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, distribution of methamphetamine and cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine.

Court documents show the Drug Enforcement Administration, Oregon State Police and Clackamas County Interagency Task Force started investigating Perez-Sanchez in July 2025.
