Canadian police are in Portland asking for the public’s help identifying a mystery kayaker found Sept. 29, 2022 off the coast of Vancouver, British Columbia who may have spent her final days in Portland or Seattle, and they provided new details about her death.
Police said an autopsy could not determine conclusively how she died, but police said they believed she had a medical incident. They believe she was diabetic and may have experienced anaphylaxis before a tug boat crew found her floating around 9 p.m. that evening.
She was unresponsive. First responders were able to resuscitate her and she regained a pulse, but never regained consciousness. She was taken to a hospital where she died that night.
“This woman looked as though she was ready to just go out on an evening kayak,” Vancouver Sgt. Adam Donaldson said at a Wednesday news conference. “She had intentions to live a life and she seemed very healthy. We think there’s someone out there that’s definitely missing her.”…
