A couple with young children asked Portland designer Robby John Barham to evaluate a home they were considering. The two-story house was built in the 1980s with acoustic drop ceilings, honey-oak cabinetry and other hallmarks of the era.
Barham of the Neil Kelly design-build remodeling company saw past the twig-style stair spindles, extensive wallpaper with big brown flowers and strips of glaring Hollywood vanity lights. By doing so, he recognized a well-maintained time capsule with a highly livable floor plan and functional storage.
