Deaf-owned Woodstock Cafe hit by Memorial Day burglary; $12K in items, cash stolen

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Woodstock Cafe, a deaf-owned business in Southeast Portland, was burglarized in the early morning hours of Memorial Day. The cafe said the thief stole equipment that helps the business serve its customers.

Woodstock Cafe, a small business that also operates as a nonprofit, is open to all. However, the cafe primarily serves the local Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and disabled communities.

On a typical day, manager Rae Davis is busy serving coffee, tea and pastries to customers. But on the morning of Memorial Day, Davis opened the cafe to find business was not as usual. Rather, the store had been burglarized…
