PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Buckman neighborhood is facing the sudden shutdown of a longstanding bar.
In an Instagram post shared late on Wednesday, The EastBurn announced it had already closed its doors. The watering hole and community gathering spot on 1800 E Burnside St. had been operating since 2008.

Although the business has not revealed the reason behind its closure, owner Michael Fritz bid farewell to its employees and customers in a statement shared with KOIN 6.
“We would like to thank the core of our business, our staff, both present and alumni, for their hard work, dedication, and hustle, our outstanding landlords for the use of their beautiful building, and our exceptional vendors —all the unsung heroes of business,” Fritz wrote. “We thank our weekly event hosts and artists for their talents and for helping to make The Eastburn a welcome space for gathering and community.”…
