Khao Niew food truck owner released after ICE detention in Portland

Thavatsay Phimmoungkhoun, better known as “Nong,” the owner of the Khao Niew food cart near Portland State University, has been released from federal immigration custody, according to a social media post Thursday.

Khao Niew, which has both a restaurant and food cart, posted to Instagram on Thursday, June 18, welcoming him home.
