The Oregon Department of Transportation plans to begin regular overnight closures of the I-205 Abernethy Bridge starting at 11 p.m. Saturday, June 27.
ODOT has worked for years on a project to seismically retrofit and widen the bridge, although it has faced a series of delays. The I-5 northbound section of the bridge will be closed during the initial closure.
“June 27 will be the first in a series of overnight directional closures of the I-205 Abernethy Bridge this summer as crews pour concrete on the newly-widened bridge deck. These overnight closures will either be northbound or southbound but not both directions at the same time,” ODOT said in a release. “This work depends on dry weather and necessary prep work, and schedules may change or shift on short notice.”…
