Court filing seeks to stop sale and branding of downtown Lake Oswego bar

The future of the former Gemini bar in Lake Oswego remains in limbo. While the bar abruptly closed a couple of months ago, the current owner and operator allegedly listed the property for sale using the previous business’s trademarks and brand.

The legal dispute arose in 2024 when Josh Malm claimed that he was forced out of managing the bar despite having allegedly purchased it in 2023. He said the agreement was verbal and not written down. While multiple lawsuits played out in court, the Gemini rebranded as The Cut Supper Club under the leadership of Jacqueline Karol before closing earlier this year.

The LLC behind the former iteration of the Gemini, owned by Malm, and the former caterer, Rebecca Bell, are attempting to regain control of trademark rights and save personal property inside the building before it is sold or destroyed…
