Columbia River Veterinary Specialists, a longtime emergency and specialty animal hospital in Vancouver, plans to close in early September, putting 50 employees out of work.
PetVet Care Centers, the Connecticut-based company that owns the hospital at 6607 N.E. 84th St., notified Washington workforce officials on Tuesday that the hospital is expected to permanently close on or about Sept. 4.
