Beaverton to activate traffic enforcement cameras at new intersection

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — In just a couple of days, Beaverton authorities will activate traffic enforcement cameras in an additional area.

Beaverton police have announced they will begin testing the new system at the intersection of Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway at Millikan Way and 160th Avenue on Monday, July 6. The photos will enforce speed and red light restrictions.

Beaverton officials have already activated enforcement cameras at the intersections of Southwest Beaverton Hillsdale Highway and Griffith Drive, Southwest Walker Road and Cedar Hills Boulevard, Southwest Scholls Ferry Road and Hall Boulevard, and Southwest Allen Boulevard and Lombard Avenue.

All intersections with the camera system display signage showing they are photo-enforced, according to the police department’s website. Officials said the camera will only capture drivers if their vehicle crosses the first line of a crosswalk or passes an intersection after the signal light turns red…
