Real trees fill PDX’s new terminal, but some are struggling to adjust indoors

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — The trees inside Portland International Airport’s new terminal are real, but some are struggling to adapt to life indoors.

A Port of Portland spokesperson tells KATU the terminal features more than 7,500 plants and more than 70 trees. The goal is to create the feel of a Pacific Northwest forest and provide a calmer environment for travelers before they board their planes.

“I think the trees inside the airport is really cool. I didn’t even really kind of realize that they were real,” one traveler said on Friday…
