‘Miracle’: Family reunited with lost child after 4th of July rescue mission on Oregon Coast

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A family received a “Fourth of July miracle” after an Independence Day hike led to a high-stakes search-and-rescue for their child on the Oregon Coast, according to officials.

Netarts-Oceanside Fire District said that a 4-year-old girl became separated from her family at Cape Lookout State Park.

It is unknown how or why the child was separated, but Netarts-Oceanside Fire District said that multiple teams came together to find the child.

The teams included Netarts Oceanside FD search and rescue, the Tillamook Sheriff’s Department, Tillamook County Search and Rescue Team, US Coast Guard Tillamook Bay with ocean and ground resources, US Coast Guard Astoria with helicopter resources, Tillamook Ambulance, and the Tillamook 911 center.
