Portland City Council rejects appeal, clearing Lloyd Center redevelopment project

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland City Council unanimously voted Wednesday to deny an appeal of the Lloyd Center redevelopment plan, clearing the way for the long-planned transformation of the mall into a mixed-use development featuring apartments, a park and a seasonal ice skating rink.

The council voted 10-0 to reject the appeal after members said they could not dictate how private property owners use their land.

“We’re pleased the City Council chose to embrace this well-considered plan to transform an outdated, empty mall into a vibrant neighborhood of housing, parks, businesses, and public spaces.
