Drivers used mortars, fireworks, lasers during Portland street takeovers over the weekend: Police

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Multiple arrests were made and cars were towed following a police response to illegal street takeovers in Portland over the weekend.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday, Portland police said they responded to reports of more than 60 vehicles racing and recklessly driving near North Marine Drive and North Leadbetter Road. Mortars, other fireworks and lasers were also reportedly used during the incident.

When officers responded, they saw 150 to 200 vehicles try to drive away heading east, but police made multiple stops and towed cars.
