Man caught with 38 lbs. of marijuana in checked luggage at Portland International Airport, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A 24-year-old man was arraigned Monday in Multnomah County Circuit Court after authorities say Transportation Security Administration officers found more than 38 pounds of marijuana in his checked luggage at Portland International Airport.

Jihad Ibn Ibrahim Muhammad is charged with illegal import or export of marijuana items, unlawful delivery of a marijuana item and unlawful possession of marijuana by a person 21 years of age or older, court documents show.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed July 10, officers were called to the airport’s Checked Baggage Resolution Area at about 1:30 a.m. after TSA reported a suitcase containing a large amount of suspected marijuana. Police said Muhammad was identified as the passenger who checked the bag and was pulled from the boarding line for United Flight 1802 bound for Newark, New Jersey, before departing…
