Brush fire burns trees, shed near I-5 in Vancouver

VANCOUVER Wash. (KPTV) – A large brush fire near Interstate 5 damaged trees and a shed in Vancouver on Friday afternoon, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.

Just after noon, crews were sent to a possible house fire at Northeast 59th Street and Northeast Sixth Avenue, just south of the Hazel Dell area.

Firefighters found a large grass and brush fire burning behind the house. It hadn’t damaged any homes but the flames crossed a concrete wall and were moving down a hill toward I-5.

Despite being close to the freeway, VFD said the fire didn’t stop traffic, and they were able to get the flames under control in about 15 minutes…
