PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Firefighters are battling a 3-alarm inferno in a vacant warehouse in Northwest Portland off of Naito Parkway near the Fremont Bridge Sunday afternoon.
In addition to the fire inside the large vacant warehouse, which has been described by Portland Fire & Rescue as an “unsafe building,” crews are also responding to a reported grass fire next to the building.
Crews are anticipating possible “structural collapse,” PF&R said in a post on X. Photos of the fire show flames shooting up through several levels of the building and through the roof.
A water tower next to the building has also caught fire and there are major concerns it may collapse on the railroad tracks, Rick Graves, a PF&R spokesperson, told KOIN 6 News…
