PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The owner of a North Portland home that’s been at the center of much controversy over the years is facing charges in two new cases against him.
Police arrested William Kinney III, 41, this week after executing a search warrant at his home located at 4406 N. Mississippi Ave.

The residence, known to some as the “Red House,” was the site of a week-long armed occupation by apparent antifascist and anti-government “sovereign citizens” in 2020, who blocked entry not only to the house but also the street outside of it after they were foreclosed on in 2018. The story made national news when local law enforcement tried unsuccessfully to evict them. The property owner eventually reached an agreement with the residents to sell them the home.
Kinney, who still lives there, was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with four counts of felon in possession of a firearm as well as three counts of felon in possession of body armor. He has since posted bail.
