PORTLAND, Ore. — Detectives have launched an investigation following the in-custody death of a 71-year-old man at the Multnomah County Detention Center on Tuesday morning, sheriff’s officials reported.
According to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), corrections deputies responded at approximately 7:30 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, after finding an adult male in custody unresponsive inside his cell.
Deputies and Multnomah County Corrections Health medical personnel immediately initiated emergency lifesaving measures.
