Vancouver Police: Drone helped locate two suspects in $17,000 EV charging cable theft

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KATU) — Vancouver Police say they used drones to help them catch two copper wire theft suspects accused of causing roughly $17,000 to electric vehicle charging stations.

Officers were called out on reports of two people cutting and stealing seven electric vehicle charging cords from a local business.

While officers were searching for the suspects, Vancouver Police sent up an Unmanned Aircraft System (also UAS – or drone), which spotted them hiding in a grassy area nearby…
