Sixteen Central Precinct officers were sent to what was reported as an injury crash on northbound S.E. McLoughlin Boulevard, Saturday morning, September 19th, at 6:54 a.m., just a short distance below 17th Avenue in the north end of Westmoreland.
The wreck, and the subsequent investigation, closed McLoughlin between Harold Street and 17th until 10 a.m. that morning. Northbound motorists were diverted off McLoughlin onto westbound Harold Street to 17th, then back onto McLoughlin, for three hours while the highway was closed.
PPB’s Traffic Division Major Crash Team staged on northbound McLoughlin Boulevard near 20th Avenue, across the street from “Hollywood Lights” in north Westmoreland. At the edge of the northbound lanes, a PPB Forensics Division specialist photographed the crashed motorcycle (shown), while other officers placed yellow evidence markers on the pavement, and calculated distances and vectors with technical equipment on tripods.
