Prosecutors with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday touted the sentencing of a bong shop, liquor and game store burglar as evidence that a burglary task force had stopped a “prolific” burglar from “preying upon Portland business owners.”
A judge sentenced Brandon Lee Hellard, 47, to five years in prison Friday after he pleaded guilty to stealing from Mary Jane’s House of Glass, liquor store Thirsty Portland, Cloud Cap Games & Puzzles and a storage unit in Southeast Portland between August and January, the DA’s office said.
Prosecutors said Hellard stole at least $3,100 worth of goods from the Southeast Portland businesses. He pleaded guilty to four counts of burglary – entering the businesses with the intent to rob them – and prosecutors dropped theft charges…
