A mother and baby in Oregon narrowly escaped injury after a car crashed into the nursery of their home.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) in Portland said in a press release that they received a report of a crash at the 5800-block of Southeast Jenne Road around 12:15 p.m. local time on Monday, May 11. After officers and members of the Gresham Fire Department arrived at the scene, they found a black SUV had crashed into the side of a home, “causing significant damage” to the property where the baby’s nursery was located.

According to MCSO’s preliminary investigation, a 47-year-old woman was “driving southbound” in the SUV and “tried to pass a truck towing a trailer in a no-passing zone.” However, when she moved into a northbound lane, she saw an oncoming vehicle and tried to merge back but ended up sideswiping the truck and trailer, before losing control and traveling down the embankment, deputies said.

As a result, “the SUV crashed into a home, specifically impacting a baby’s nursery. Fortunately, the mother had removed the child from the room just minutes before the collision,” the MCSO said, per the release…
