PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Providence will soon begin a new streetscape infrastructure project designed to preserve and protect one of the city’s most historic roads: Benefit Street.
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley joined officials and community partners Friday morning at the Old State House to announce $6.2 million in loan funding for the Mile of History project through the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank.
“This is a meaningful milestone in both improving the city’s infrastructure, but also celebrating one of the most important miles in our city,” Smiley said. “Today we are making a major investment in Benefit Street.”…
