PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — More than 445 birds were euthanized Saturday after a strain of bird flu was detected at Antonelli Poultry in Providence.
The H5N1 strain of avian influenza was detected during routine quarterly USDA testing.
“This wasn’t just one or two sick birds,” said Rhode Island State veterinarian Dr. Scott Marshall. “Every single tube that they submitted tested positive.”
