An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for 10 AM Wednesday morning through 8 PM Saturday evening for inland areas. An Extreme Heat Watch continues for southern Rhode Island. Excessive heat and humidity could lead way to heat index values well over 100°.
Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Today will be warm, but the thermostat is really going to get cranked up for the remainder of the week. We have a heat wave ahead, but this is not an ordinary heat wave — dangerous heat is expected late week.
We now have Extreme Heat Warnings in effect for inland areas of Southeast New England. Heat index values (combo of heat/humidity) will make it feel like it’s over 100°, especially Thursday and Friday.
In fact, we’re now expecting the actual highs Thursday and Friday to hit 100°.
Two consecutive days of 100° have only happened twice in recorded history for the Providence area….1991 and 1944.
