WEATHER ALERT: An Extreme Heat Warning continues today until 8 PM Saturday for the entire area, except for Block Island. Excessive heat and humidity will bring heat index values well over 100. In addition, an Air Quality Alert is in effect for southern Rhode Island and Southern Bristol County in Massachusetts for poor air quality due to elevated levels of ground-level ozone developing.
Good morning! Happy Friday. Today will be very hot and very humid, once again. We do have some showers/t’storms in the forecast for the next couple of days, but it’ll be dry most of the time.
This will be day three of this heat wave. With extreme heat yesterday and more today, heat exhaustion or heat stroke may set in if you’re not careful. Please know the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
- If you are sweating excessively with a rapid, weak pulse and muscle cramps, get somewhere cool (pool, cold shower) and drink water.
- If you have a rapid, strong pulse with red, hot skin and feel like you may lose consciousness, it’s time to call 9-1-1.
