A New Bedford resident wanted in connection with a violent stabbing earlier this year was taken into custody last month in Rhode Island by a team of U.S. Marshals.
Keeland Rose, approximately 32, was apprehended on June 10, 2026, in Providence through a joint operation involving the U.S. Marshals District of Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force and the District of Rhode Island Fugitive Task Force. At the time, Rose faced an active warrant out of New Bedford District Court on narcotics-related charges.
The warrant stemmed from an incident on May 2, 2026, when New Bedford police responded to a reported stabbing. Officers found a woman inside a vehicle suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim identified Rose, a New Bedford resident, as the person responsible. He now faces charges of assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery on a family or household member.
Rose has a documented history of serious criminal involvement in the region. In 2017, he pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact in the murder of 18-year-old Brad Lourenco, who was shot in New Bedford’s Roberto Clemente Park. Rose received a sentence of three to six years in state prison. His co-defendant, Ivan Fontanez, was later convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. See that story HERE…
