Man charged in attempted arson at Warwick restaurant

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A 47-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attempting to set a popular Warwick restaurant on fire last week.

Police responded to Captain’s Resto-Bar on Waterfront Drive around 1:15 a.m. on July 1 after receiving a call from the owner of the business about a “suspicious male” outside.

The owner told police he was on the roof doing maintenance work on the building’s HVAC system when he saw the man approach with a white trash bag covering his face and pour gasoline along the fence…
