Rhode Island to create electric, hybrid vehicle database

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A new law will soon take effect in Rhode Island, establishing a statewide identification directory for electric and hybrid vehicles.

Gov. Dan McKee joined bill sponsors alongside the West Warwick Fire Department for a ceremonial signing Tuesday morning, after it was passed by the general assembly on June 19.

Under the legislation (H7135A/S2181A), the State Fire Marshal’s Office must create a program for fire departments and districts to be notified when an electric or hybrid vehicle is registered within their region.
