Ken Block out with campaign poll showing him competitive in race for RI governor

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Independent candidate for governor Ken Block on Monday released findings from a survey he commissioned that show him ahead of the potential Republican nominee in a three-way matchup this fall.

The Block campaign poll, conducted last week, finds Democrat Helena Foulkes taking 33% of the vote in an initial ballot test, with Block at 18%, Republican Aaron Guckian at 16%, and 37% of voters undecided. In a scenario where incumbent Democrat Dan McKee wins renomination, McKee is at 28%, Block is at 20%, Guckian is at 15%, and 33% are undecided.

However, a press release issued by Block’s campaign emphasized a different set of numbers, which tested his support after voters were told various positive messages about him. In the McKee scenario, Block jumped to 31% after the messaging and McKee fell to 21%; in the Foulkes scenario, Block and Foulkes tied at 27%…
