Man convicted of killing Dighton farmer in 1984 granted parole after serving 41 years

A man who has spent 41 years in prison for his role in the 1984 fatal stabbing of a Dighton farmer will be released from prison after he was granted parole.

Edward Dias, now 60, was 19 when he was convicted on May 23, 1986, of first-degree murder for the death of Frank Rose, 76, after a joint jury trial in Bristol Superior Court.

He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. On that same date, he received a concurrent sentence of 75-to-90 years for burglary with armed assault…
