Providence Place buyer to be unveiled Wednesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The attorney overseeing Providence Place through its receivership is expected to unveil and recommend a new buyer for the embattled shopping complex Wednesday.

W. Mark Russo, the court-appointed attorney managing the mall’s receivership, is slated to recommend the “highest and best proposal” from a pool of investors interested in buying the 1.4 million-square-foot property. No list of potential buyers has been disclosed publicly.

Russo will make his recommendation to R.I. Superior Court Judge Brian Stern, who will decide whether to accept the offer, according to court documents. If approved, Russo must finalize a purchase and sale agreement with the buyer within 10 days…
