2026 Point-in-Time Count shows decrease in homeless population in Rhode Island

(WJAR) — The Rhode Island Coalition to End Homelessness released the results of the state’s 2026 Point-in-Time Count on Friday.

According to the advocacy group, this year’s count identified 2,236 people who were experiencing homelessness during the count period, a decrease from 2,373 in 2025.

Out of those identified in the 2026 count, officials said 416 were unsheltered and 1,820 were staying in shelters…
