Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman urged New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to stay away from the 25th anniversary commemoration of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, saying their attendance would distress members of the 9/11 community.
Blakeman, the Republican nominee challenging Hochul in November, told Newsmax’s “National Report” that he understands why current and retired Port Authority police officers and other first responders don’t want the two Democrats at ground zero. If they attend, he said, people should stage a peaceful protest.
