Dad of New York Woman Murdered After Pulling Into Wrong Driveway Speaks Out on Killer’s Guilty Verdict: ‘KAYLIN GOT HER JUSTICE’

‘There’s just a hole in me, I took someone else’s life,’ said Kevin Monahan, who plans to appeal the verdict

The father of a 20-year-old woman who was shot and killed after her boyfriend pulled into the wrong driveway, celebrated her killer’s conviction in a Tuesday Facebook post.

“While we would trade anything to bring Kaylin back, this was the best possible outcome short of her still being here with us,” Andrew Gillis wrote, according to WRBG . “KAYLIN GOT HER JUSTICE. Much love to all!”

Kevin Monahan shot Kaylin Gillis last April, when her boyfriend, Blake Walsh, mistakenly drove up to Monahan’s house. Though Walsh quickly realized his mistake, it was too late – Monahan fired his gun twice from his porch, with the second bullet striking Gillis.

Walsh and Gillis were part of a group of vehicles that included two SUVs and a motorcycle. Monahan testified that he felt threatened when he saw the large group on his property and thought he was being blocked in.

“I just feel like my soul is dead,” he said in court, according to NBC News . “There’s just a hole in me. I took someone else’s life. It’s just horrible.”
