N.Y. weather: Freeze Warning in effect as cold air grips the state

A Freeze Warning remains in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday for most areas outside New York City and its immediate suburbs, with temperatures below freezing into early Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Upton.

The National Weather Service has issued Freeze Warnings covering inland Connecticut, portions of New York state including areas north and west of the city, and parts of New Jersey. Record low temperatures are possible Tuesday morning at several locations, with existing records including 31 degrees at Newark, 29 degrees at Bridgeport, 26 degrees at New York City, and 30 degrees at Islip, according to forecasters. In the Capitol Region, Albany’s record low for April 21 stands at 20 degrees, set in 1875, while Glens Falls recorded 20 degrees in 1925, according to records.
