Wake County adopts first Farmland Preservation Plan to confront rapid land loss

Wake County commissioners approved the county’s first comprehensive farmland preservation plan Monday night as officials work to slow the loss of agricultural land around the county amid rapid growth and development.

According to county officials, more than 36,000 acres of farmland have disappeared in Wake County over the past decade.
