Craven County deputies seek Wake County woman wanted in counterfeit money investigation

The Craven County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a Wake County woman wanted on multiple felony charges in connection with a counterfeit money scheme spanning several Eastern North Carolina counties.

According to investigators, 30-year-old Natesha Lashay Cheeks of Garner is accused of passing multiple counterfeit $50 bills at businesses in Craven and Jones counties in exchange for gift cards.

The sheriff’s office said Cheeks is wanted in Craven County on the following charges:

  • Felony possession of more than five counterfeit instruments
  • Felony uttering a forged instrument
  • Felony obtaining property by false pretense
  • Felony conspiracy

Authorities said Cheeks is also facing the same four felony charges from the Maysville Police Department.

In addition, Garner Police Department has obtained a misdemeanor child abuse charge against Cheeks, and North Carolina Probation and Parole has issued a parole warrant for her arrest…
