Second day of thunderstorms in the Triangle. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph

A strong thunderstorm with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour will roll through Johnston and Wake counties Sunday afternoon, according to a special weather statement from the National Weather Service. Impacted locations include Garner, Fuquay-Varina, Clayton, Holly Springs, and Lake Benson.

The special weather statement, issued at 2:44 p.m., is in effect until 3:45 p.m.. Radar detected a strong thunderstorm near Fuquay-Varina moving east at 15 miles per hour.
