CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor released an investigative report into the Town of Cary on Thursday following a months-long review prompted by allegations of financial mismanagement involving former town manager Sean Stegall.
The investigation stems from concerns surrounding Stegall’s spending of public funds after he was placed on administrative leave in November before resigning the following month. During an initial analysis, North Carolina State Auditor Dave Boliek announced evidence of what he described as “potential criminal activity”.
