RALEIGH — Gov. Josh Stein on Tuesday, July 21, appointed two Johnston County residents and several Wake County residents to state boards and commissions, including appointments involving law enforcement, child care, historic preservation, economic development and juvenile justice.
Among the Johnston County appointees, Chief Lynn Gay was named to the North Carolina Criminal Justice Information Network Governing Board as a representative of the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police. Gay, a former State Bureau of Investigation special agent, serves as chief of police for the City of Dunn. He spent nearly 30 years with the SBI before retiring in February 2024 as assistant director of the agency’s Field Operations Division, where he oversaw the Cold Case Investigative Team.
Kristi L. Snuggs of Johnston County was appointed to the North Carolina Task Force on Child Care and Early Education as a representative of the child care resource and referral network. Snuggs serves as president of Early Years and previously was deputy director of the Division of Child Development and Early Education.
