A Wake County middle school has backed off from its plan to bar students from bringing backpacks to school following complaints from parents.
East Garner Middle School had initially banned the backpacks when the school year started on Monday before agreeing to phase in the change. But by Friday, Principal Sharon Fennell told families that they’re going to pause the transition as she cited the “confusion and frustration” that families are feeling.
“This pause will give us time to listen, assess what works best for our students and families, and ensure that any future changes are communicated clearly,” Fennell said in a message to families…
