A man was left with life-threatening injuries Thursday evening after a shooting at The Park on Northridge apartments in North Raleigh, where police detained one suspect at the scene and recovered a handgun in the parking lot. Officers responded just before 5 p.m. to reports of shots fired at the complex, located on Brookbank Lane near Litchford Road.
Chopper11 footage showed a large police presence swarming the apartment community as the investigation unfolded, according to ABC11. Crews from the station reported seeing shell casings scattered in a parking lot along with a handgun on the ground near the scene. An eyewitness told the outlet they heard multiple gunshots and saw an altercation between a man and several women just before the shooting occurred.
The relationship between the man who was shot, the detained suspect, and the women involved in the altercation has not been detailed publicly. The investigation remains active, and the station reported that updates are expected as police continue piecing together what led to the gunfire.
