A new proposal in Wake County could spark more debate about whether discipline is too lax in schools or is unfair to some students.
The Education Justice Alliance (EJA) wants the Wake County school system to allow parents to appeal short-term suspensions given to their children. The self-described education equity group says creating an appeal process will reduce the number of suspensions, helping to make time out of school an option of last resort.
