Raleigh teen using Glenwood Ave. cookie stand to help the needy

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — For Raleigh teen Reggie Sanders, business has been booming.

“It’s been amazing. I have had so many people messaging me and I’m trying to respond to everyone,” he said.

He says his passion for baking started as a kid.

“I used to be around the homeless with my dad passing out food,” he said, talking about his father’s ministry.

As Reggie got older, he decided to pursue his own goals to give back.

“I was just sitting around thinking one day, and I said I can use my cookies to raise money for the homeless. That’s when I came up with Lil Reggie Cookies,” he said.

This now-18-year-old has had an LLC since he was 15 thanks to his parents, and also secured a commercial kitchen to prepare his products.

“I have learned to take advantage of networking opportunities,” he said.

Sanders says those opportunities connected him with The Dankery Restaurant’s owner and founder, Ian Burris.

“I think he is making all of the right moves and it’s a testimony. The hard work will pay off,” said Burris.
